During the weekend of October 14th, Scarborough Sharks, Bantam AA visited Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA. The players and parents met with Mercyhurst Head Coach Michael Sisti in the team dressing room and heard what it takes to be recruited to play Division I hockey.
Led by Mercyhurst undergrads, the team toured the campus learning first-hand about student life and academic expectations. The Sharks were in the stands on Saturday when Mercyhurst faced the Quinnipiac Bobcats.
Both teams won their conference last year so it was an all-out battle until Quinnipiac finally netted the winner 4 minutes into overtime for the 1-0 victory.
The Sharks came out on top of their 4 game exhibition series played on Lakers home ice. They faced stiff competition but went undefeated against Chicago Young Americans, Detroit Little Caesars and Brock Junior Badgers.
In their first game against Little Caesars, the Sharks, down 1, fought back to win a decisive victory in the 3rd. In their final game on Sunday the Sharks put what they’d learned from watching the Mercyhurst/Quinnipiac game to excellent use to win the series.
As this photo attests, fun was had by all. The Mercyhurst tour was a much appreciated opportunity and an overall epic weekend!
