Scarborough Sharks PeeWee BB Win in Huntsville

Sharks Win Tournament on Super Sunday
Although the Canadian Men's Olympic hockey team was not victorious on Super Sunday the Scarborough Sharks Pee Wee Tier 1 team was. In their first tournament and games since being recategorized from A to BB the Shark Pee Wee team struck gold in the Great White North. The Shark Pee Wee team went undefeated to win the 33rd Annual Huntsville Girls Hockey Association tournament. The team started off with a hard fought 3 to 3 tie against Orilla early Saturday morning. Following this game the stellar goaltending pair of Nicole Mancini and Julie Hook combined for three straight shutouts by not allow another goal in the remaining three games, including the final.
Scoring was a complete team effort with all players getting on the score sheet. Cynthia Cavanagh led the way with a hat trick in the Sharks 6 to 0 win over Aurora. Allie Sherwin also potted three goals in the tournament including the game winner versus Kingston in the final. Riley Malthaner and Skylar Peters had key goals in the come from behind tie versus Orilla and, Morgan Mallais found her scoring touch again by opening the scoring in the game against Aurora. Assists came from Anna Deinum, Bailey Kennedy, Natasha Zelinski, Kiana Tobia, Carly McDonell, Ainsley Johnston and Ally Doyle.
At the end of the final game Ainsley Johnston was awarded the MVP for the final game and Skylar Peters was presented with the championship trophy by the Huntsville Girls Hockey Association. Team mate Emma Williams was jealously missed as she was in Vancouver attending games and cheering for the Women's and Men's Olympic hockey teams.
In addition to great hockey the Shark team enjoyed the amazing accommodations and activities at Deerhurst Resort and, the team took advantage of local attractions by skiing and snow boarding at Hidden Valley Ski Resort and tubing at Rock Ridge Snow Park.
