The Scarborough Sharks Girls Hockey Association has provided girls of all ages with a place to experience the game of hockey since 1978. The league was founded at that time by Don Montgomery, past president of the Scarborough Hockey Association from 1967 to 2007. From this inception, the Sharks grew from 60 players in the late 70s to over 500 players today, and remain the primary hockey league for girls in the Scarborough area.
Our association offers both House League and Competitive Rep Programs for girls and women in all age categories. Many of our players have gone on to play for Canadian university teams or NCAA hockey at American universities. Notable Sharks alumni include Vicky Sunohara - Canadian Olympic multiple gold medal winner. The Sharks also recognise the importance of pursuing post-secondary educational opportunities and offer several bursaries each year. The Mike Serio Bursary provides financial support of $750 for one House League and one Rep Level player attending college or university.
